Rock and country singer Sheryl Crow is doing her part for the victims of the Joplin, Mo., tornado by donating her 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL roadster to the Gooding & Co. auction in Pebble Beach, Calif., this August.

Crow's Mercedes will take its place on the block with a selection of other classics on Aug. 21, immediately following the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Proceeds will go to the Joplin Schools Recovery Fund, created by the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri.

The auction will take place at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center at the corner of Portola Road and Stevenson Drive.

“After the tornado in Joplin, I was moved to help rebuild a city so close to where I grew up in Missouri,” Crow said. “My hope is that the auction of my 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL roadster will bring in funds to help rebuild the schools in the area.”

The singer's Mercedes SL is white with a matching hardtop and also has the optional black soft top. Restoration, completed in 2005, included replacing the brakes, suspension, radio and black leather interior.

Crow's Mercedes carries a preauction price estimate of $50,000 to $80,000 and will be sold without a reserve.
