Waltrip-Pastrana Racing has withdrawn X Games and action-sports star Travis Pastrana from Saturday night's NASCAR Nationwide Series Kroger 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway near Indianapolis. Pastrana broke his right foot and ankle in a crash during Thursday night's Moto X Best Trick event at X Games 17 in Los Angeles.

"I'm sorry this happened, and I'll be back in action as soon as I can," Pastrana said after treatment at a Los Angeles hospital. "I look forward to coming back."

Pastrana planned to compete in Best Trick and Freestyle on Thursday and Friday nights, fly overnight to Indianapolis for his Saturday-night Nationwide debut, then return to Los Angeles to compete in RallyCross on Sunday. But he crashed on back-to-back "TP Roll" attempts (also called the "Corked 720") that had made him an X Games gold-medal favorite in Best Trick.

"Like fans everywhere, we were so excited about Travis's debut Saturday night," said NASCAR team co-owner Michael Waltrip. "We have a long-term vision with him that includes lots of NASCAR. We can't wait to get him healed and in our race cars. We've waited a long time for someone like Travis Pastrana, [and] I guess we'll just have to wait a little bit longer."
