Izod IndyCar Series driver Helio Castroneves will race in the Australian-based V8 Supercar Gold Coast 600 endurance event in Surfers Paradise in October, joining an already strong lineup of guest racers.

Castroneves will drive a Stone Brothers Racing Ford Falcon alongside Tim Slade. Rules dictate that each team must employ at least one “international” driver.

Other IndyCar drivers signed to compete in the event include Castroneves's IndyCar teammates Will Power and Ryan Briscoe, which means that Team Penske's entire IndyCar driver lineup is entered in the race. IndyCar regular and Indianapolis 500 pole winner Alex Tagliani is also in. Formula One driver Vitantonio Liuzzi is also believed likely to appear, and touring-car racers Andy Priaulx and Fabrizio Giovanardi are confirmed as well.

Rumors say that ex-F1 drivers Jan Magnussen--now a Corvette Racing regular--Alex Wurz, Mika Salo and Christian Klien will be on the grid as well. Defending IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti raced in Surfers Paradise last year, and while he is not yet confirmed for 2011, his brother Marino is. Grey's Anatomy TV star and part-time racer Patrick Dempsey is also thought to be interested in driving in the Gold Coast 600.
